People wishing to communicate with someone with whom they have been in conflict, with a view to engaging in postal negotiation, may make use of TOPAZ postal forwarding facility for a fixed time period.

Both parties should outline to us their instructions and aims, making them clear.

Neither Mid-Ground nor TopazLine will accept financial or other responsibility for any outcome.

The facility is offered as a possible improvement for situations where there has been a misunderstanding or breakdown in communication, and where direct contact may not be suitable at this stage.

Often people find that simply writing things down helps them to clarify a situation for themselves.

Complete agreement may not always be viable. The success of the process naturally depends upon the willingness of the parties to engage in 'dialogue' and to make allowances.

There is no intervention from ourselves unless people instruct us either to read letters before forwarding, or assistance is requested in the form of some individual postal counselling for which there is no charge, and which will be offered at our discretion.

Individuals can change in their beliefs and how they behave.

Other people may attempt to help from their own standpoint, which may not always be helpful for the person involved. Situations can, and often do change!

People can find themselves in conflict with family, neighbours, friends, colleagues, or with those attempting to help.

Parties are free to seek information or advice from anyone qualified or suitable to provide it, which may include formal mediation services, advocacy, or legal advice.

We are each responsible to and for ourselves, regarding how we proceed in life and towards other people.

Individuals may need to accept their own limitations and the constraints of a particular situation, effectively 'negotiating within' in order to proceed, see www.concil.co.cc

Mid-Ground and TopazLine will remain impartial. Our involvement of any kind is entirely at our discretion.

This is a postal facility operating through the normal postal service over which we have no control. Please also allow time for forwarding.

The Mid-Ground facility does not operate via email or the Internet, phone or text messages.

It is open to all with a willingness to communicate in this manner via an impartial body.

All information received is regarded as confidential, subject only to relevant legal constraints.

There is no charge for this function, but people are asked to pay the costs of postal forwarding. Cheques should be made payable to 'The Topaz Line'.
