Different approaches suit different people. The more you know about what there is out there, the sooner you'll find something which could benefit you or someone you know who needs help.
When you need help, it's not easy to ask around unless you know someone already helping people, not easy to raise the subject in the first place, not easy to walk into a bookshop and ask for books, and so on. See the Books & Information Page, and Note below on BOOKS.
Help can turn up in unexpected ways. We hope, if there is not a specific organisation near you, there'll be some support you can make use of via someone you know, by telephoning a national organisation such as The Samaritans (who are there 24 hours a day), Helplines appearing after a TV programme, or by following up something from a book, a newspaper or magazine article
